2018 Chardonnay

The 2018 Chardonnay marks our 4th vintage working with white grapes and the Chardonnay from Lonnie Wright’s Volcano Ridge Vineyard located in the highlands near The Dalles. Each iteration has improved as we’ve gotten to know the grape and vineyard and this vintage is easily our best effort. We aged the Chardonnay in Predominantly French (and a few American) barrels. We initiated malolactic fermentation which was controlled to produce subtle, but noticeable buttery creaminess. The fruit, oak and butteriness are perfectly balanced in this wine , avoiding the pitfalls of wines that have any one of these too pronounced. Finally, we filtered the wine prior to bottling to prevent the more rustic qualities of crystallization or haze from  occurring. The result is a wine we are very proud of! 175 cases produced
