Petit Verdot is one of the 5 primary Bordeaux varietals and its claim to fame is in blending. Single varietal wines and blends can be completely transformed by the addition of a small percent of Petit Verdot. It is common for wineries to add this to Cabernet, Merlot and other varietals to boost the color, earthy qualities and provide complexity.

2017 Pinot Noir

At Seven Bridges we have mostly focused on Big reds rather than the local lighter bodied Pinot Noir.  Beginning with the 2017 vintage, we have decided decided to have both! Working with our fabulous growers Richard and Samara Veeman, we partnered with the vineyard to grow the type of Pinot Noir grapes that could be handled more like a big red.  The result is a Pinot that shares many qualities of our other wines from Seven Bridges. This is the first and very successful vintage of that concept.

Gunkel vineyard is situated in one of the most beautiful spots in the Columbia Gorge. Evidently the grapevines like it too because the wine we are producing from here gets better with each vintage. Deep fruit richness characterizes this wine with peppery notes on the nose and finish. 100% American oak barrels gives this a distinctive oak punch. 215 cases

We’ve tried Malbec from other vineyards but nothing has compared to the grapes from Kolibri vineyard. The grapes suit our winemaking style perfectly resulting in a balanced, big and rich wine with huge fruit profile and structure.
